UKBJJA INTERNATIONAL OPEN 2022

The United Kingdom Brazilian JiuJitsu Association proudly presents the third UKBJJA International Open which will take place on Saturday and Sunday of the 22nd and 23rd of October 2022

The event will take place at the Sportsdock , University of East London, London.

The event is limited to 1200 competitors maximum over the two days.

All White belt divisions, Blue, Purple and Brown Masters divisions and all junior/juvenile divisions will take place on Saturday the 22nd of October.

Adult Coloured belts and all black belt matches will take place on Sunday the 23rd of October

The event is UKBJJA ranked with a status of x4.

PRICES:

Early entry (until June 26th)£50 adults/masters | £30 Juniors and Juveniles (non UKBJJA members, please add £15 for membership)

Normal entry (until September 10th)£60 adults/masters | £40 Juniors and Juveniles (non UKBJJA members, please add £15 for membership)

Late entry (until October 8th)£70 adults/masters | £50 Juniors and Juveniles (non UKBJJA members, please add £15 for membership)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR UKBJJA MEMBERS:

To register, you must have your membership on Smoothcomp. Please read the following carefully:

Current individual members or members of clubs with bronze, silver or gold UKBJJA Club Memberships.

Check that your membership is currently active on Smoothcomp. If you have membership via your clubs membership policy check with your club manager to ensure they have submitted your details to the UKBJJA to activate your membership.

If you are not yet a member of the UKBJJA, you will be taken to the Join Federation page when you register for the competition. Membership costs £15 per year and includes up to £5m member-to-member and public liability insurance. It also provides discounted access to courses, development camps and other UKBJJA events. You will also be supporting the growth of grassroots BJJ in the UK.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

All age and weight categories as per IBJJF rules.

All divisions will be run on a single elimination basis. Competitors who medal in their weight division will be eligible to enter the openweight division for their belt level. For male competitors there will be two absolute divisions at each belt level  , under 76kg and over 76kg. For females this is under 64kg and over 64kg at each belt.

We have a £22,000 prize fund on offer (cash prize dependant on a minimum of 4 eligible athletes in the division) which will be broken down as follows: -

TEAM TROPHY

This event will see the top team for the event receive the first Nicholas Brooks Memorial Team Trophy. This is a new award presented in honour of our dearly departed former Director Nicholas Brooks who tragically passed away in late 2021. Nick was a driving force in the establishment of the UKBJJA and in gaining recognition for the sport from the Sports Councils.

ANTI-DOPING:

The UKBJJA follows the anti-doping rules of UK Anti Doping (UKAD). All participating athletes and UKBJJA members agree to abide by these rules. Please read the following documents for more information:

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Closing date for all entries will be midnight on Saturday the 8th of October no entries will be accepted after this point and initial brackets will be available by no later than Monday October the 10th.

100% refund of entry cost is available for anyone who cancels their entry prior to the end of the normal registration period. 50% refund is available for anyone who cancels during the late entry period. Anyone who cancels after registration closes is not eligible for a refund.

Competitors can use the Smoothcomp system to make a change in weight division up until midnight on Saturday the 15th of October no changes in division will be considered after this date and any competitor who fails to make weight on the day will be disqualified without any possibility of refund. All payments must be made via Smoothcomp ahead of the event.

All competitors must make weight on our scales. There are no allowances given.
